DAY 19— Redemption is settled in God’s beloved Son.
remember the day my heart heard the words, It is finished. (John 19:30). I was teaching a class on “Salvation.” The students were alive and excited. We were discovering the meaning of those words redemption, remission, justification and propitiation. Added to these we had others words like atonement, substitution and the word salvation. Those seven words! What power resided behind them! Then, we heard those words from Jesus. It is finished! The Holy Spirit helped us see that the Seven powerful ones all added up to those three words. Jesus finished the work. He paid it all. All God asks from us is repentance and faith.
Ephesians 1:6b,7—He hath made us accepted in the Beloved, in Whom we have REDEMPTION through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace... NIrV—God freely gave us His grace because of the One He loves. We have been set free because of what Christ has done. Through his blood our sins have been forgiven. We have been set free because God's grace is so rich.
Romans 3:24,25—Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; NIrV—The free gift of God's grace makes all of us right with Him. Christ Jesus paid the price to set us free. God gave Him as a sacrifice to pay for sins. So He forgives the sins of those who have faith in His blood...
FATHER, it is settled in me. My hope of redemption lies only in the grace You extend to us in Your Beloved Son. I accept my redemption as full and complete in Him. Now, please help these I hold before You. Bring the conviction of Your Spirit upon them. Help them to know it is only, and completely, through the Lord Jesus Christ that they can know You.
